Toyota's diversity and inclusion programs in most instances are bottom up vs top down and highly relationship based. It's really the luck of the draw if you land in a progressive thinking dept.

The broader organization feels inclusive. In my specific vertical I’ve had to deal with the typical close minded good ol boy exclusion and dismissiveness. Outside of my vertical the company is an asian versus whites political struggle. If you’re not of either ethnicity you’re essentially a placeholder for where one of the other two sides can strengthen their position.

Good but Room for Improvement
Promotional opportunities are not the same for me as my white colleagues. I feel like Toyota talks the talk but does not seek true feedback from its diverse employees. There is room for increasing inclusion.

Move to DFW
I was nervous that the move to DFW would disrupt the culture of the company. I couldn't have been more wrong.

Recommend Working Here
I always judge a company on how likely I am to recommend working there to friends and family and I would definitely do that at Toyota. The culture is all about respect which translates to even the benefits we receive. I think part of the wonderful culture is a reflection of the fact that this is a Japanese owned company. "

Culture Survived Recent HQ Move
I was a bit worried when we moved from California to Texas, but Toyota has been able to maintain a cohesive culture with great employees. People tend to stay here for a long time and you really can't beat the wonderful benefits especially at the HQ campus. I love the car discount program and pretty flexible work options depending on your position.
